A senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader was shot dead Friday in Bihar’s Supaul district, triggering violent protest by his supporters, police said.
Ravinder Yadav was killed by unidentified men after he was asked to step out of his house early Friday.His family members and supporters termed his killing a political killing planned by his rivals.
Yadav had a heated argument Thursday during Lok Sabha polls in Supaul parliamentary seat and he received life threats, his family members told police.
Additional security forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further untoward incidents.
Yadav had unsuccessfully contested on a RJD ticket from Supaul seat in the 2010 Assembly polls. He was a member of the zila parishad for two terms.
