ThaiPusam (Thai Pusam) is celebrated on 7 February 2012 (Tuesday). 'Thai' refers to the tamil month and 'Pusam' refers the name of the star. On this day special puja, abhishekam, yagna, archana and deeparadhanai is held for Lord Muruga.
It is celebrated with great devotion in all Lord Muruga Temples especially at Palani Lord Dhandayuthapani temple and Arupadai Veedu Lord Muruga Temples. Special Chariaot pulling 'Therottam' is held on this day in Palani.
Many devotees fast in this day and take Kavadi, Pal Kuddam and do padayatra (walk) to Lord Muruga Temples. Chanting of Lord Muruga hymns and playing of percussion instruments by devotees can be seen in temples. Special yagnas will take place in temples
