The history of the ankle bracelet is murky, there are as many versions of it as there are those to tell it. In various places and time the ankle braclet held different foundations. Wives were considered a man's "property" until fairly recently in Human history. Shackles on ankles came to the US along with slavery.
After the civil war the ankle shackel disappeared, however after the beginning of the 20th Century ankle chains began to be worn by prostitutes. That disappeared by the mid 20th Century. Then as a more open sexuality came in and "swinger" populations grew the anklet took on new significance as I previously outlined. There is no requirement that you accept that for yourself, but within the set of the "hotwife" the anklet has very specific meanings. It's nice to know so that you can be aware of some attention you may receive.
